Dr. Maria Cleary

Superintendent/Principal (CSA)

Maria Cleary has joined the Stanhope School District as Chief School Administrator where she will be acting in the capacity of both Superintendent and Principal. She completed her Ed.D. at Seton Hall University, and holds an M.Ed. from Boston College and an M.A. from CUNY.

Dr. Cleary's career began in the classroom where she taught elementary, middle and high school students. From there, she moved on to the area of curriculum, repackaging content utilizing both television production and technology to dynamically engage students. She has also taught on the graduate level, working with teachers to develop innovative methodologies for their classroom teaching. Prior to her arrival in Stanhope, she was Principal of a PK-8 school in Bergen County.

Dr. Cleary lives in Morris County. Her husband is a Vice Principal and two of her four children are teachers, so school is a popular dinner time topic! She looks forward to meeting members of the Stanhope community and further building a sense of "family" together.
