President's Message . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ……. . ……………… Sherry Caravano (973) 426-9092

We would like to congratulate all 73 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Honor Roll students who we honored for academic excellence at the Honor Roll Celebration on June 10th.  The HSA sponsored the celebration by serving breakfast to the honorees and their parents and presenting them with awards to recognize their achievements.

What a beautiful day we had for Field Day, which took place on June 13th.  It was a fun packed day with age appropriate activities for all students.  The HSA sponsored the blow up obstacle course and the dunk tank and treated every student to a frisbee and an ice pop. In the afternoon, the students got to see an hour of amazing tricks as two Harlem Wizards performed a half court show with student and teacher participation.  I would like to thank the following volunteers who helped during Field Day: Kim Amato, Jill Anderson, Carmel Berger, Regina Car hart, Rebecca Davies, Dawn Dean, Joule Demise, Andrea DiFabrizio, Molly Ferguson, Lori Gordon, Dawn Goula, Cindy Graeber, Dawn Heinen, Natalie Hewitt, Kim Kelly, Robbin Kenny, Maureen Kurtz, Sandi LaBell, Dawn Lamicella, Lori Madonna, Michelle Madonna, Kathy Maier, Linn Marinaro, Shaun Marinaro, Tina Markferding, Carolyn Mulreed, Linda Oeftering, Jaime Peterson, Theresa Romaine, Michelle McNeilly, Vicki Poisseroux, Mark Smith, Liz Stanley, Maryann Swiezer, Gina Thomas, John Thomas, Keith Trowbridge, Rose Tucker, Nicole Vertitis, and Wanda Williams.

We wish Mr. Charney, Mrs. Kwiecien, Mrs. Latino, and Mrs. Moscatello a fond farewell, as they all will be retiring from our school this month.  We thank them for their dedicated service to our students and school and wish them the best of luck as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.

To the eighth graders - the graduating class of 2008, you have a great deal to be proud of.  We extend our congratulations and best wishes for your continued success.

As we are ending another school year, many thanks go out to all our volunteers.  I truly appreciate everything we all have accomplished this year.  I am grateful for your support.  You have proven that with teamwork, no task is too large.  Whether you volunteered your time or supported the fundraisers, all efforts are appreciated.  We have had a very good year and I would like to extend my gratitude to all of the families and staff members who have supported us throughout the year.

I thank each member of the HSA Executive Committee for his or her hard work and commitment throughout the whole year.  When we all work together for the good of our school and our children, it is very rewarding and the results show.

I thank you for all of your continuous support and understanding.  I could not have done it without your help.

The HSA would like to say thank you and best wishes to Robbin Kenny and Lauri Trowbridge who will be leaving the HSA as their daughters will be moving on to high school.  These two dedicated volunteers have devoted their time and efforts in helping our organization tremendously.  Both have had major rolls in the HSA and have run and helped in many committees.  Their contributions are endless and they are going to be missed!!  We thank the both of them for all they have done for our children and our school.

Have a great and safe summer.

March 2009 marks the 10th year of Market Day at our school.  Every year with the profits, we are able to purchase Student Homework Assignment Planners for our students in grades 1 through 8 and folders for Kindergarten.  The planners and folders are given out the first day of school.  Thank you to all the families and faculty members who have supported Market Day over the years.  I would especially like to thank all the volunteers who made reminder calls and helped out at the sales each month.

We will once again be taking orders for Book Sox.  The order form will be included in the August Packets.  Order forms are due back to school by Wednesday, August 27th so that we’ll receive the orders the first week of school.  We would like to remind you that this is not a fundraiser.  This is just something we do to make it convenient and affordable to everyone.
