A Message from our Superintendent
Dear Parents and
Guardians of Stanhope School District Children:
Please allow this short note to serve as a manner in which to introduce myself.
Approximately ninety minutes ago, I arrived at the Valley Road School to begin my
tenure as Interim Superintendent. As you may know, the Netcong and Stanhope districts
have mutually decided to attempt a shared services situation with the position of
superintendent. I have been honored to be the person selected to try this arrangement.
I am a veteran
of thirty five years as an educator and I am close to my nineteenth year as a superintendent.
I enjoy working in small school districts and look forward to meeting the challenges
of the dual district role. In addition to serving four districts as superintendent,
I have been a director of special education, a K-4 principal, a K-1 principal, a
high school assistant to the principal and an assistant superintendent for curriculum
and instruction.
The Stanhope Public
School district is undergoing some changes and it is my hope that parents and citizens
actively involve themselves in the shaping of this change. A communicative device
that I find to be stimulating is a superintendent blog located at stanhopeschoolsorg.blogspot.com.
Please feel free to post opinions or questions. I will also be undertaking a strong
effort of communication via newsletters and meetings.
The first thing
I did today upon arriving at about 11:15am was to visit the cafeteria where I found
third, fourth and fifth graders eating. In about fifteen minutes, I learned a great
deal about the school. More importantly, I learned that the Valley Road School is
populated by some very nice and friendly young people.
I look forward
to working with them and with you.
Sincerely,
Art DiBenedetto
