About Mrs. Henry and her philosophy of teaching:

I am a life-long resident of Stanhope, and therefore a product of Stanhope School.  I am fortunate to be living in a town I love and doing what I love to do for a living.  I believe that it takes a community to help children grow into responsible adults.  I am proud to be part of this community, as a teacher, a neighbor, and a parent as well.

There is no greater joy than helping children grow and learn.  My goal is to increase each and every child's self-confidence in his or her abilities.  I believe the key to learning is to make it fun.  In order for children to be successful in the learning process, they need to feel comfortable.  I strive to make the classroom a place where the students feel special,  loved by everyone in the room, and appreciated for the differences we all have.  We work diligently on working together as a team to make the school experience enjoyable for everyone.  We are recognizing that sometimes we need help, and sometimes we are the ones who can offer the help to someone else.  One of the biggest lessons we work on is learning that it is okay to make a mistake.  We learn so much from our mistakes and that's great.  In the words of Ms. Frizzle, "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!"

Although I am often told that I am special in the life of a child, I realize that I am not near as special as a child's own parent.  Parents are, after all, the first and most special teacher in a child's life.  I am thankful that I am able to assist parents in teaching children what they need to know to be successful in life.  It takes both home and school working together to produce children that achieve their life goals and reach their maximum potential.  Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's life.
