8th Grade Reading Journal Information
- Choose a book from your reading level or one level below.
- Read at least 15-30 minutes every day.
- Record your reading time on your reading log.
- One reading log per book
- Get a parent signature when done reading the book
- Attach the reading log to the inside back cover of your reading journal
- Write 3 reading journals per week.
- Each entry must 3/4 to a full page long.
- Each entry must have a heading - book title, author, date, topic.
- Each entry must have evidence from the text (with page numbers) to support your analysis.
- Entry topics should vary - summary, characters, setting, mood, language, figurative language, connection, prediction, reaction, questions, monitoring text, inferences, symbolism, irony, character motivation, author's purpose, foreshadowing, things that make me go hmm..., and others.
