• Autism Program

The ASD program is a self-contained class for students on the autism spectrum. Currently, one class is serving students in grades 3 through 5 and another class is serving students in grades 6 through 8. It is a comprehensive program focusing on academic, social, and functional life skills to meet the diverse, individual needs of each student. Students are taught through individual and small group instruction, participating in the inclusive setting when appropriate. In addition, adaptive classes are available in the special areas of art and physical education. Social interactions are facilitated through peer programs and community based trips. It is our goal to provide students with the skills, support and opportunity to reach their full potential, as well as assimilate effectively in school, community, and family environments.

Our program is unique in that our classroom affords students opportunities to engage in a variety of programming options with typical peers, in addition to a variety of educational and sensory opportunities. Individual and small group instructional areas are located throughout the room, including an area designed to replicate a general education setting. Our large sensory space provides the OT and PT materials and equipment necessary to address a multitude of sensory needs. Finally, we offer a full working kitchen equipped with multiple stoves, microwaves, sinks, a refrigerator, washer and dryer to implement an intensive and effective functional life skills curriculum.
